should member post count be incremented while posting in this forum?

This issue has been discussed for a long long time in the past with respect to the 'General' forum...But today I'd like to ask, if its fair to increase a post count of a member when they post in this forum...

I feel, this forum is also generic in nature with issues not necessarily dealing with linux as such..This forum includes threads about suggestions for LQ...I just feel that along with general, posting in this forum also shouldn't be counted under total posts...posts made in this forum do not reflect the intellectual status of any member with respect to his/her knowledge of linux, as even a newbie or beginner in linux can come up with a real cool suggestion for this site...therefore, posts made here should not be added to the total post count...

Regards,

amit

I think they should actually. This forum is for constructive feedback, suggestions and so on in which your status should grow with your post count if your helping this site be better, get better and such. General of course is just too generic, one of the reasons we stopped counting posts to your count there is due to the silly games people would start, totally off topic threads which only seemed that were created to boost their counts, etc.

The members who post in this forum are taking the time to post feedback on the site and make suggestions. They are helping to shape the direction we take and are chasing down bugs. I'd say if anything, posts in this forum should count x2.

i agree with Tricky and Jeremy, general is for the most part an unproductive chat area even though a few questions do inevitably get answered, the way I understand it the post+ was removed from general because people can get high post counts without ever even really using linux or helping the site within a very small amount of time, people rarely post entirely useless comments here (although I may be beating a dead horse with this post or however the saying goes and defeating my own point) and the volume is small enough to be insignificant to someones post count. If we remove post+ from this forum then we might as well remove post counts altogether and have a rating style system that lets members rank each other perhaps such a system could be based on affero and help to encourage its popularity
