Really dumb question and probably none of my business but...

First off, if you feel that this question oversteps my boundries, please tell me, and i'll delete this message but, why is there a www.linuxquestions.net that points to www.linuxquestions.org? Wouldn't that cost extra money? Again, if you feel I have no business knowing the answer, please indicate it.

Costs only for the registering of the name itself since it points to the same site.

Most sites will register their name with all the .org, .net, .com in most cases to prevent others to get the name and start a totally different site and cause confusion among people who browse to them, etc.

Try these sites as well:

www.unixquestions.org
www.bsdquestions.org
www.solarisquestions.org
www.windowsquestions.org

And I think there are a few others as well...

i think its not that expensive to buy another second domain at least here in europe its not and why not having 2 top level domains if possible i mean this way much more people come to this site.
but maybe this domain was just redirected by someone owning it and loving linuxquestions.org :=) well never know until an admin says the true

Also, The free email accounts we offer are @linuxquestions.net (not .org).

Oh, guess I was wrong. I'm certainly no expert in buying domains because I have never bought one. Thanks, I was just wondering.
