Just wondering how a I, as a user, get validated so that I can attach screen shots to my posts, where relevant.

You can't, attachments and screenshots are disabled and will probably stay that way forever. Try searching the FAQ and this forum, you're certainly not the first to ever ask this type of question.

Aren't there plenty of places on the Web where you can post your pics?

For instance, one of our MEPIS regulars used http://photobucket.com/ to display screen shots (as a slide show!) of a sub-distro he's working on.

BTW, if you ever have large "Code:" or "Quote:" blocks, they can also be externalized:

http://pastebin.com/

Might make your (& anyone else's) posts easier to read & easier to answer.
