Succseful install of Linux Mint 32 bit on 32 bit hp desktop

This was an old xp machine with 512 meg ram a2,4ghz pentium dual cor proc with a 40 gig hard disk. The install went well but was very slow and unresponsive. I upgraded ram to 2 gb and hard disk to 164 gig. That li a fire under it and it became quit usable. It was deliverd to a total Linux newbe and she was able to work with the fire fox broser and Libre office with no coaching other than to tell her to use Libre Office.
Thanks to Linux Mint development team.
