Thumbs up windows alternative

I have recently replaced windows 8.1 with Linux Mint, what a breath of fresh air. I love the whole thing. It's way easier to use than I envisioned. I still have a plethora of windows programs but I was able to put them all on a separate external drive. I then installed Vmware and put windows 8.1 on that. It works great.
thank you Linux Mint!!

Welcome to LQ, glb1959 (anyone who uses one my favourite words "plethora" gets my vote of confidence ).

Great to hear that you're enjoying Mint!

Wink thanks all

it sure would be nice if AMD catalyst would work on my computer. I've been to a dozen sites that all say the same things and none of it works. oh well, at least I'm learning

Hi and WELCOME! (p.s. thanks for liking my [rough-draft beginnings] idea of a tutor blog!)
(p.p.s. sorry you fell into the NecroPost 'trap'; don't be discouraged: I fell into LQooopses when I first posted too! Looking forward to you asking questions!)
