Well, Ive used Redhat and Mandrake off and on for the past 5 years or so and Im moving on to slack 9.
Quick question before I wipe that Win2k partition off...
In the last month or so I have become a rabid webdesign fanatic.
I got a copy of Dreamweaver and have used it nostop pumping out page after page of web design...stuff.
I've heard about WINE and did a little bit of reading on the subject. Just curious if Dreamweaver will work with WINE at all.
I have no problem keeping a little 5 gig partition for a few programs that I use on a regular basis, but hey, if there is something else I can use I am all for it.
Thanks for any info you might have.
yea your right on the dual boot idea. That is what I am currently going to do. Maybe jsut leave a little 5 gig partition for win 2k, just to run dreamweaver and a couple other programs.
It probably would help if you knew that Im more of an end user. I can barely run FTP. And telnet? LOL Got it to work once at work.
Well, the nice thing of dual booting is that you can experiment with linux while you have working programs, in this way you can travel through the linux world and discover the linux programs you need...maybe wine isn't such a bad ide, I say: experiment with it!
And it is no big deal to ask something in here, for that reason we are all in here!
Originally posted by bulliver Otherwise, keep a dual boot if you want to run a bunch of win apps, because wine is at best disappointing....
And that's if you even get it installed. I couldn't agree more. Not that I usually like to bash on other's work, ESPECIALLY when they are doing it voluntarily, but wine really seems to not have 'come-a-long-way' since I've known about it.
It's probably just me, in fact, it's most likely me But I just wasn't amazed, with all the work that I put into it, the outcome.
I took the advice to check out bluefish.
Looks really cool. Although I still mostly use Dreamweaver for the time being, Bluefish makes codeing look a bit more appealing.
Thanks for all the input so far.
Maybe one of these days I'll be able to wipe 2k off the drive. Im not having nearly as many problems with Slack 9 as I thought I would.
