Unix Systems Engineer
Hello, everyone. I am a pSeries and Storage Architect in Addison, Tx, a suburb of Dallas.
I've been a Unix engineer for 16 years, specializing in IBM RS6000/pSeries and AIX for the last nine years. I also support a number of Linux on Power installations.
My specialty is highly available and virtual environments, usually is support of Oracle and/or SAP. DB2 is occasionally in the mix.
I do some pre-sales work - normally requirements validation and technology presentations, but mostly I focus on solution design and implementation.
My first Linux "server" was on a "brand new" x386 on the 0.93 Beta kernel, back when X was wo primitive and Linux so unheard of that monitors didn't report their sync freqs. You needed an o-scope to figure it out.
That and there was no such thing as a "distribution". Everything was manually compiled and installed. Things have changed alot in 13 years.
