The bizarre inevitability

Hi Im Jay, I live in London UK and I would like to run Linux.

The header alludes to my problems.

"The bizarre inevitability of it"
A tale by a technical inadequate in 5 Chapters.................

Well I won't bore you with detail here BUT

I've been lurking
folowing threads
reading articles
so I know lots of stuff that I didn't before.
I'm not sure that I want to know all this stuff but I read, follow advice, download and try again.
However I'm still running Windows and with new vistas on the horizon I tremble at the inevitable.
So some help is needed.I will post details on Newbies.

But my first question is about Hex... Why does it always say "0F0FF"?
