I got my start with Mandrake and Knoppix back in 2004. The corporate grind kept me in WinX. Under W7 I was using Linux guest in virtualbox. Never used W8,10. Left corporate arena and used various distros before settling on Mint Linux. I was trying to convince friends and family to switch to linux.
With W10 lack of privacy, friends and family are more receptive to Linux. Actually one family have been using linux for years with no questions and no spyware. That gave me a break from troubleshooting. The hardest part of linux is getting friends and family to try it.
I need to learn more of the nut and bolts. Its time to play with the "How To's" of gnu.

They may already use Linux with tablets/smartphones/routers. Let them get stuck on the infinite Win 10 update loop and they'll see the value in Linux eventually. It really depends on what they do with their computer and how much their favorite programs work under Wine. Just don't tell them, "Linux is free and full of love!"
