Old dog - new tricks?

Hello. My name is Bill, and I have been around computers a long time. I cut my teeth on PC's when I loaded the OS for a TI 980 "PC" with paper tape from an ARS 33 teletype back in the early 70's.

I have been attempting to learn linux for a couple of years. Unfortunately, the "little grey cells" (I believe that is a quote from Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot) don't work as well as they once did. But I have made SOME limited progress.

I have been working on the Linux From Scratch version 7.10. I've gone through the first 50 or so pages. Not unexpectedly, I have run across some problems.

If you have some expertise in LFS, then maybe I'll see you there!

Best regards,
Bill

Howdy and Welcome. I had no nada previous computer experience to cloud up my mind
and jumped into using linux as my 1st operating system.

I don't do linux from scratch. But I know of a few sites that do.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/pinkrabbitlinux/

There might be something in the links of my signature also.

Good luck with it.

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the references. I especially like the Ultimate Newbie Guide. I'm sure that I'll some some time there soon.

And Ardvark71: I can see that we have similar views about the "non-linux" issues.

Best regards to all and God bless,
Bill

Thanks for all your replies.

I am making slow progress with Linux From Scratch (LFS). I am learning a lot of Linux from going through this exercise. And some of it is even sinking through this "old dog" mind!

Thanks for the welcoming messages.

Bill
