No question, a solution!

I don't have a question, but rather an answer for someone else.

I carefully prepared my answer and lost everything because there was a URL. Rather frustrating!!!

If you lost it then it that easily, then you were not carefully prepared!

When preparing a post that takes some effort, I always write it in a text editor, then paste/post - I too, have had the failed post experience.

Please try again...

Hello and welcome to LQ.
Usually when a new member posts into a thread a text that contains a link that post goes into the "moderated" state. This sadly is necessary to prevent the forum to be mass spammed. A moderator will have a look at those posts and approve them if they are not spam. This may take some time, even moderators need to sleep from time to time. If after a while your post still doesn't show up please tell us at which time and in which thread you have posted, so that we can investigate that issue.
