Linux Noob - Tin Hat Forum - Windows telemetry made me switch.
Never much liked apple. Thought the UI was sexy, but hate having to play in one very expensive sand box. Worked with windows due to business needs. I do like MS Office and am pretty good with advanced functions, formula, macro's etc.
I was always curious about Linux. Tried a dual boot a few years back and did not like the Ubuntu package at the time. did not feel it was an easy transition from the win environment.
Mint has been great. I love the terminal when I can understand it. So much more efficient. But I still like a simple UI option for when things get a little scary. Mint offers about three ways I can find to install shit. Cool.
Mint is on my laptop right now. I will need a reason to switch. KDE sounds interesting, but I don't think I am ready for that yet. Scripts.... Interested in that, and other automation tasks.
I work in the medical field, and would love for them to see the power of Linux, but they are pretty embedded with IBM/Windows for now. Some of this new windows stuff violates HIPAA, that is what made me switch.
What ever super christian. You must be fun at parties.
Well, the alternative is to get reported and get infractions. If you get too many of those, worse things start happening. You might want to take this a bit more seriously. Ridiculing others because of their beliefs/faith is not a great start either.
I see you are an established member. Cool. While you report me, lets talk about your offensive proselytizing. A minority of the world is Christian, but here you are saying, Hey check out this stuff. Forget your own culture, faith and belief structure. I am going to send you links to some archaic superstition, and pose all high and mighty. Establish yourself as a leader in the linux community just to spread your hate. It is subtle, but I am aware of your agenda. Christians have caused more hate and strife than any religion on earth. Notice how the Jew's don't proselytize, the "Chosen People" aren't looking for members, why should your spin off get main stage. Seriously think about the crap you are spreading. Ban me I don't care. I would rather hang with intellectuals than religious freaks with narrow world view.
Oh, and banning me in this day and age of social media is not too smart. Try me.
I was here to talk about Linux in the first place. Your signature was the first blow.

PLEASE READ! You don't have to end up here!>>>>> Now that is some serious Bullshit!!!

I have already taken screen shots, so it is your move.
This is not a game with sparring and moves. This is a pretty nice venue which attracts users of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
I will save ardvark71 having to report your post as I have already done so.
Please watch the language, or find another venue to participate where it is more appropriate.
Arriving with a chip on your shoulder and a frontal challenge to other members laced with language which others might find offensive is not appropriate or appreciated.
Please follow the link to forum rules helpfully provided above and read them. If you choose not to abide by them, then please leave.
Agreed. While I also find Aardvarks signature offensive, it's what the signature is there fore, to be something personal. He's religious. He wasn't spouting religious gobbledy gook mumbo jumbo in the thread, it's just his signature. And he was trying to be helpful. In case you didn't read the rules that he linked to before posting, I'll quote the relevent ones:
Quote:
Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, hostile or insulting.
Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated.
First 2 rules, and you violated the first in your first post (which yes, it's questionable if that's truly obscene given that it's not even bleeped on most TV shows any longer), and the second with several others.
There's people from all faiths, countries, ethnicities on these boards. We're all here for the same purpose, don't be attacking people just because they're different from you. When in doubt try to take the high road and just keep your mouth shut. And learn to ignore all the signatures about worshiping imaginary beings, quite a few have them, but it's their belief, and they're entitled to it the same as you or I (although I do wish there was a way to hide selected users signatures so I didn't constantly have to be bombarded by them when reading threads).

Probably for the best, since you don't seem to grasp the fact that he's not proselytizing, it's just his signature because he's an extremely religious person. Nowhere in his POST did he try to convert anyone.
Signatures are indeed a personal thing and as such we are more lenient with them, including allowing religious content that others might find offensive. Just don't look at them if you don't like them.
As said by the members already, LQ is an international forum with a wide variety of people from different nations, cultures, religions, etc ... . This communinty can only work if all members treat each with respect, regardless of different opinions.
