Introduction

Hi all,
I am Alan Simon and I am new to Linux. I am hoping I can get familiar with it so I can assist my company in implementing it on computers that we use at substations for GUI to plant data. I am not sure which is a good simple distro to go for that will provide a good introduction into the product.

I am shortly going to get the latest Ubuntu distro for my home pc to play around with. Any suggestions/comments for me to get started?

Ubuntu is a fine first distribution. If you have any problems, please post them here.
