Hello from VarmintAl

A long time DOS and Windows user giving up on Microsoft. I still use Windows XP Pro, but since it is no longer supported it is time to quit. I have tried a few Linux distrobutions and have settled on Linux Mint 17 the KDE version. I am the computer go-to person in our neighborhood and a number of people are now using Linux Mint in our area. They are happy. One 90 year old lady had Windows 7 and I installed Linux Mint 17 and she is very happy with her computer. The beauty was that it was a snap to connect to her router and setup the wireless printer.

I have a lot of fun building computers from parts and installing operating systems. I got a couple of referb DELL D630 laptops. I put Linux Mint 17 KDE on one. It took about 45 minutes for a complete system with all my options. I put Windows XP Pro on the second one and it took a day and a half to get it working. Whew, what a difference.

I have a web site about hunting: http://www.varmintal.com/ and need to update the computer page showing the Linux Mint stuff.

Good Hunting... from Varmint Al http://www.varmintal.com/coyotel.gif
