I've been using Linux since 2000.Tried several distros and settled on Ubuntu by about 2002. I now use Ubuntu Mate as I was not happy with Unity.
I earned B.S.E.E. in 1966 from Cal Poly Pomona and while I got my JD and practiced law for a while I got my first PC in 1983 and realized my interest was in writing code.
I'm 73 and retired but I try to stay tuned in by developing projects for myself. Currently building a Medication Journal on Eclipse using Python and Django.
Normally I don't ask many questions but enjoy looking at how others have approached problems I have faced using Linux. I intend to do a fresh install of Ubuntu Mate from a USB drive and I may need to see how others handled this effort. I will backup my home directory, but I want a clean new install of 16.04.
Always great to hear that someone who worked as an engineer, still is one! Seems as if I'll never quit myself, even if I stop working, similar to what you're doing.
