Hello, from Colorado!

I started using Ubuntu Linux less than a year ago, at the urging of a friend from work. I now do 95% of all my personal computing on Ubuntu, with XP as part of the dual boot.

I have learned a ton, but have so much more to learn. I have used info from this forum to help with multiple questions I encountered and figured it was time I actually registered.

I work at a large IT company, doing operations support for a date warehouse group. We were recently migrated from XP to RedHat on our work laptops, so what I have learned on Ubuntu, to some extent, I have used to my advantage with the RH image.

I also run Ubuntu server 10 (I think) on an old HP Pavillion PC as my test server. I have my music and docs backed up on there and this is my hands-on learning tool. The group I work with are code writers and UNIX Admins, so i am trying to learn using my home network and server, without the risk of screwing up something that could cost me my job.

I have recently started to learn python, but with no programming background at all, I am taking it slow and not planning to apply for any jobs that require that.....yet!

Well, I suppose I have rambled on long enough. Have a great day (week, month, year....depends when you read this)

I tend to like to tell folks to start on distro's that have good documentation. Ubuntu and RedHat have some of the best.

Being inbetween a newbie and expert is a dangerous spot. Smart enough to break it and not smart enough to fix it. I have been there.

Welcome to LQ.
