Hello everyone!
Hello everyone, somewhat new to linux here. I've dabbled in the past but now would like to take it a bit more seriously.
Some background on me. I'm a Server Administrator for local government -- 100% Microsoft / Windows shop, and that's where my background and experience is in. I've got over 15 years in the IT industry support Microsoft Windows platforms. In college, I majored in Computer Science, where a lot of what I did was programming. I very much enjoyed the programming aspect, but felt I was more capable in the server/network administration side of things.
So what has brought me to this point? I'm afraid I see where Microsoft is planning to take Windows, and for my professional day-to-day life I'm fine with it. Job security! But for my home PC needs, I want to slowly begin to integrate Linux into the equation.
Also...I have an idea for a program that I'd really like to try to put together. It's not a complicated or complex application (it's a type of logger for Ham Radio uses), and I'd really like to give it a shot.
So that's it...that's me and my reasons for being here!
