Another soldier in Bill Gates army changes sides...
Hello all, I am Pcghost and I am a Linux addict. <crowd>"Hello Pcghost"</crowd>. I was like a lot of people out there. Considered talented with computers and the primary tech support for most all who know us. Blindly following the Windows developement cycle and installing the latest Windows OS on peoples machines for them. And then it happened..
I decided to pursue a degree in MIS (Management Information Systems), and landed an internship with a growing tech company in our area. Upon being interviewed my boss asked me what os's I could work with. When I told him I could work with anything MS from Dos 3.0 up to Windows XP, he wasn't as impressed as I had hoped. He hired me anyway, and told me to do some homework on the Linux operating system. That is when I found Linuxnewbie.org. The formerly great help site that now truely sucks..
With my copy of RedHat 6.2 in hand and my browser on the help site, I took the plunge. I never got out of the water again. It had been a long time since I had a usefull command line at my disposal, and I loved it.
A help-site exodus and several versions later, here I am. Responsible for 8 servers (in a corporate environment) and running windows on only one machine for school purposes. I have learned so much thanks to good people in the Linux community and some serious Google/linux searches.
My thanks to all those who helped me along the way to computing enlightenment. You have helped me take back that which was stolen from me by a company I once was blinded by. I will do all that I can to help others where you have helped me...
welcome to the club. May I also suggest trying other linux distributions so as to allow you to see the differences between Redhat, Debian, etc and where they stand in regards to one another, standards, and what is best.
NOTE: this is not a flame on *ANY* distribution... just mentioning that almost all distros today have their own specialized tools and / or quirks. Just don't let yourself get tied into any _ONE_ distribution.

I hold no ill will towards Md. He taught me most everything I know about Linux (while still not much ). The site was a little out of control, but the flagrant smiting by the moderators against anyone who dissented caused me to bail. I know the site belongs to Jupiter Media (ie Internet.com) and I guess that's what you get with a corporate owned website. I calmly expressed my unhappiness with the decisions being made and especially the treatment of some of LNO's most helpful people (who are here now ) and they banned me.
The site feels more like the microsoft knowledge base than a forum now. Too sterile for my tastes. I like the community feel here at LQ and the lack of a corporate monster behind the scenes. Once I graduate in a few months I plan to become a contributing member of this site, as I feel it's important to support people like Jeremy who do this without selling out to the man.. Just my 2c.
I am glad for the exodus, as it is the reason I found this place..
