Advanced Newbie (if there is such a thing. . .) Fedora 8, Ubuntu 8.10
Hi all,
I've recently started using Linux on my home PCs (one laptop running Kubuntu 8.10 and a desktop running Fedora 8 which I plan to use as an install server and general play box). I've got several years of Sun Solaris and HP-Unix experience. Most of the time as a user but with some basic administration and config experience (mainly setting up servers for various applications used during test activities - I'm a software and solutions tester by trade).
I'm really enjoying Linux after deciding to give it another try recently (I tried it previously on a home system a few years back and let it drop after a month or so) and have decided to put the time and study in to sit for the RHCE (probably will do RHCT first though).
Maybe eventually I'll get out of testing telecomm and networking and start working with Linux primarily. I'd love to help others discover the great potential I see in Linux as a better alternative to MS products (obviously, there's still work to be done, but the possibilities are great).
I'll lurk a bit and gather info as I study/learn (the amount of info on Linux online is truly impressive), but I did want to introduce myself and say that I hope to truly join the Linux community as I learn.
I'm straddling (dual-boot) MS and Ubuntu at my workplace currently (of course, it's unsupported) and, despite the small hassles of document conversions and some other instances where I have to boot up MS, I'm really enjoying working in Linux as a primary OS.

Cool. I'll look for the release.
I've been playing with Fedora 8 a bit but I think my next move will be to upgrade that machine to the Fedora 10. Perhaps after that I'll give 9.4 a try on my laptop.
