wireless adapter rejects to connect once it been disconnected

when ever i start my laptop (debian lenny + gnome) either i connect it to a wireless rooter or it gets connected itself; but once after first connection if it disconnects then i cannot get it connected back unless i restart my laptop;

i tried to issue following command and the output was like this:

input:
Quote:
sd@debian:~$ sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
output:

Quote:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Input/output error
please help!! what should i do to resolve this.

Tell us more about your wireless card.
Please, post here output for "lspci", or "lsusb" if you use usb wireless adapter.
