very slow pcmcia wireless orinoco

I have a d-link dwl-650 wireless card 802.11b 11Mbps. Access point also dlink dwl-900+ 802.11b as well. It is all on a dchp served network, but right now I am using a static ip for the access point to make sure I can get in to configure it. I can connect to the others on the network and to the internet through the router, but the speed is about 180kbps (that's bits not bytes) to both. Absolutely terrible. Any suggestions?

Old old version of the orinoco module, if you go here:

You can upgrade to the .13e-ish version of the driver. You are probably running .9b or .11b, both have a lot of prism2 bugs.

You'll have to have your kernel source and headers installed, and gcc.
