very slow connection with ipw3945

hi there,

I still have some trouble with the ipw3945 wireless of my vaio sz1, i can connect to the net, load small pages (like google), but when I try to access "bigger" pages, firefox (or any browser, or even ping with large packets) just displays "waiting for [site]..."

I'm using slackware 11, but I tried with ubuntu live cd and I didn't have this problem...

It's a long shot but: this "could" be a DNS problem. Where are the DNS servers set to? your AP and then to your ISP DNS servers? Could be that DNS Server on your AP isn't working and everytime you do a query it needs to fall back on the ISP DNS Servers, loosing time...

Quickly try to set the DNS servers to check your ISP DNS servers first. Or try to find difference in time between a ping to an Ip and a ping to a Hostname
