TrueMobile 1300 on Suse 9.2

Hi. I have a dell Inspiron 5150 with a TrueMobile 1300. I have installed Suse 9.2, but I have no clue how to configure my wireless card. I have searched this and I am finding stuff on ndiswrapper, but this greatly confusing me. My card is supported, but I don't even know how I would begin. I am brand new to linux, this is the first time that I have done anything and any help would greatly be appreciated, especially if somebody could walk me through the first few steps.

Thank you.

Zakir

modules_loaded_on_boot

Hi,
Thank you for that link. It was a huge help. The problem that I am having, is that it says to add ndiswrapper to modules_on_boot. I opened sysconfig editor, but I can't find it anywhere! Any help would be great!

Thanks.

Zakir

Thats strange that the config editor isnt there. Anyway, all it probably is is a gui editor for the files under /etc/sysconfig. For Fedora, the script for loading mine is under
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
as my wireless interface is called eth1
It may be different for suse but hey, you're not far off now.
Regards
Chris

modules_on_boot.

I can find the system config part, I just can't find modules_on_boot. Can I just edit this file manually somewhere or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks.

I haven't been able to work on this for a few days due to a huge amount of class work. I added NDISWRAPPER to modules_on_boot. I was able to put in the WPA information for my network. I still can't access my network/internet. When I startup, I see this go by: cannot find wpa_supplicant. Any ideas?

BTW- can NDISWRAPPER work with a wireless access point where it challenges you to authenticate like PEAP? Similiar to a network that authenticates with a RADIUS server?

THanks for all of your help sofar!

Exclamation Error

Okay, I got WPA_supplicant installed through YaST. Now when I startup, I get this error. Card not supported '-b'

Any ideas! Thanks.

I just completed my odyssey through installation of wireless networking on a Dell Inspiron 1150 with the "Dell Wireless LAN" card and SuSE 9.1 Pro. The card is a Broadcom 94306. I got it working under ndiswrapper after a lot of help (and lots of patience) from the good folks in this forum. Today, I also made it work with Linuxant's DriverLoader ($19.95 but worth every penny!). Like you, I had to climb the huge learning curve of ndiswrapper and wireless configuration (iwconfig, /etc/sysconfig/networks, etc.).

After reading your post, I realized that I am using the wrong driver, the other one. I still don't know why iwconfig shows up different than YaST.
