Suse 9 Netgear MA311 Encryption difficulites

I've spent many hours scouring these forums looking for the help to solve my dilema, and to no avail. Here's what I got:

Sony VAIO PCV-RX450 desktop
SuSE Pro 9.0
Netgear MA311 wireless PCI card
Netgear MR814 802.11b/g wired/wireless router

My router is setup for 64-bit encryption, with a WEP key (Key #1 is in use).
YAST sees the card just fine, Kwifimanager uses it, I've included all the required settings (ESSID, restricted access, keys, etc).

With the encryption turned on in the router, I get nothing, I can't even ping the router. With the encryption turned off, I can ping the router and my network computers, but pinging Yahoo!(C)'s IP address, I get "Connect: Network unreachable". Turning encryption back on, everything is effectively disabled. I've done such parameter passing as "iwconfig wlan0 essid "NETGEAR" " "iwconfig key restricted [1] 1234567890" and so forth. The card works, it ran in the same box in both Windo$XP/2K. My router is set to accept the MAC address of the wireless card, which it does see. I'm getting effectively nowhere with this and I've changed so many settings that perhaps it's FUBAR'd. Any ideas?

**UPDATE**
I've gotten the card to ping the router and other computers with encryption on, but still cannot get internet connectivity...
**/UPDATE**

Well, nobody seems to be able to help me, huh? Oh well, I've decided to dump the attempts at wireless, so I bought a 100' Cat5e cable to stretch through three rooms to connect my computer to the internet. Oh, and I've dumped Suse9 to go with Ubuntu 5.04, as I already have a Suse9 box as my file/web server. Just thought I'd update this post for all of you who stopped by with no answer to my predicament.

..
