SIS162 USB Wireless Lan

Hi

Has anyone had any joy getting a USB wireless card based on this chipset to work?

I ordered one only to find it was a revised product based on the SIS162 chip, but I cannot find any refs to anyone who has got it to work yet.

I can see that Linuxant do a driverloader, but I don't think it's free, which defeats the object of buying a cheap device in the first place!

I'm using a 2.4 kernel, which should have a better chance than 2.6 kernels (from what I've read so far).

Thanks

I have one

I have an asus wl-161 (SIS162 chipset) running on Fedora Core 3 with the linuxant driverloader (19.95$)

Asus have linux drivers for kernel 2.4.5 and redhat 9 in this page:
http://www.asus.it/support/download/...L-161&Type=All

but it doesn't work on FC3 kernel 2.6.9 .

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately it will not compile on 2.4.22 kernel. It complains about the syntax. It also had some files missing from the zip, but I found another version which included them.

I am about to give up on this now. I don't know what to do - other than driverloader.

Any final suggestions?

Wink

I received a driver from the store in Norway who sold me a USB stic (Jensen USB adapter, Air:Link 6511)
I will be happy to forward the driver to anybody who is interested.
However, I do not know how to implement the driver, so if YOU can help me (step by step information) please reply.
