Problem with Slackware 8 and Linksys WPC11 Wireless Card
Hello all, I've seen that others have discussed problems with this combination but not the same issue it seems. Currently, I've installed Slackware 8 (kernal 2.2.19) with source, pcmcia-cs 3.1.26 and source, and linux-wlan-ng-0.1.14. Everything seemed to make fine except during the wlan-ng config I got the message:
It looks like you have a BSD-ish init file setup. You'll need to edit /etc/rc.d/rc.S to invoke /etc/rc.d/rc.wlan (for ISA/PCMCIA cards) so that wlan cards will be started at boot time.
Now when I reboot the system with the Linksys WPC11 card in a pcmcia slot I see the following:
cardmgr[49]: executing: './wlan-ng start wlan0'
hfa384x_docmd_wait: hfa384x_cmd timeout(1), reg=0x8000.
hfa384x_drvr_start: Allocate(tx) command failed.
hfa384x_drvr_start: Failed, result=-110
prism2sta_ifstate: hfa384x_drvr_start() failed,result=-110
cardmgr[49]: + Failed to enable the device, resultcode= implementation_failure .
cardmgr[49]: start cmd exited with status 1
I receive these errors whether or not I have /etc/rc.d/rc.S invoke /etc/rc.d/rc.wlan (which I do by addling ". /etc/rc.d/rc.wlan" directly under ". /etc/rc.d/rc.pcmcia" within the rc.S file. Some other things I noticed were that I get a high-beep then a low-beep when the system inits the card and when it fails respectively. The link light on the card looks to be blink twice a second and the power light is solid. Any help would be greatly appreciated I am pretty new to Linux.
Thanks in advance,
Silas
