err you'de have to set up an ftp server on the comp u wana grab files off of......... if you wana ftp to it anyhow.

but uhh...

you wana get files off of a windows computer on your network from linux ? i think if you have everyting set up you can just use network browsing to do that.

o yea...and as for the wireless encryption

open up a browser

192.168.2.1 ( probably ) and you can prolly log in and change the encryption...most wireless routers use firm ware and u can log into them and change settings...if you forget your name/pass to log in just grab the manual...usualy there is a hard reset on the back of the router to reset EVERYTHING to factory default...don't take my word for it...read the manual...anyhow if you log in you can just add a key with what ever encryption you want then in what ever os yer using wireleslly add that key to the config for the device ( i'm assuming the linux is wireless and the windows it wired to the router? )

Mine is 192.168.0.1 but... theres nothing about like firewall or anything that seems related to encryption? maybe theres a update or my firm ware ill check it out thanks!

yea i believe you need samba, not familiar with slack... so if you can find it, i think all you need to do is feed it your workgroup, because most windows networks deny access outside of the workgroup...depends on how it's set up....but yea... just do a search here or google it, i'm SURE there are some slackers out there that can help you with this....

infact maybe try posting the slack forum about using samba to connect to a windows work group
