Netcomm NP544 USB wireless dongle problem

I can't get my netcomm NP544 USB wireless device to work - I'm using Puppy Linux, latest Vn (forget the number).
It isn't listed in Puppy's drivers list, so I'v tried ndiswrapper, using the Windoze driver, but that dowsn't work either. I've tried all combinations of IP adresses and gateway addresses, without success.
From my Wdoze laptop machine (where I'm also running puppy) I can access my networked desktop, no problem. Network router is Netgear.
Has anyone got the NP544 to work? Or does anyone know of another driver that might work with the NP544?
