First off I am using Fedora Core 3 with a kernel 1.6.9-1.667 i586 stk16 linux ant. This is the oldest kernel on the list but it was most similar to the one I had before. 1Ghz K7 Athlon is the CPU. I am using ndiswrapper 1.1 with a belkin f5d7050 usb network card.
When I first installed it all it ran fine and I could access my router and surf the net, however after rebooting the system hangs when I type "/sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper".
Anyone got any ideas, all the things I have read say that it should be fine once the kernel supports 16k stacks? Is there anything else I have done wrong?
i a bit new to ndiswrapper but i do know that ndiswrapper needs 2.2xx ( i think cant remember exactly of top of my head,im in windos at mo having probs with my ndis) kernel as the lowest kernel that could be a problem if you aint there is older versions around for ndiswrapper try here
Once the module has been installed, you shouldn't try to re-install every time you boot. Once it is installed, just type "ndiswrapper -m" if you haven't already. That will create the alias that will be there every time you boot. Then modify your /etc/network/interfaces to bring up the interface automatically on boot. See the wireless-tools documentation on all the parameters you can put in there and in what sequence they need to be.
I am using kernel 2.6.11-k7 on an Athlon XP 1800 and my wg311v2 works fine.
