Welcome to LQ.

Which "Mannasim patch file" did you use ? ? Name and a link, please.
And what is the name of the example file ?

Other required information when you ask a question :
OS Name ( ?Ubuntu <version> ) and the architecture (The 'uname -m' command.)

NS2 behaves differently on the two versions of Ubuntu 12.10 :
Recommended is the 32bits Ubuntu 12.10 ( i686 ).

The 64bits Ubuntu 12.10 ( x86_64 ) :
A reduced functionality with any ns2.

So which is yours ? ?
Hence the request for the output from the 'uname -m' command :
Will either reply "i686" or "x86_64".
