Making my linux box a wireless router?

I was trying to make my linux box a wireless router by turning ad-hoc on.

I enabled ad-hoc, and then connected my windows box to it fine.

On windows, I pinged the address wlan0 was bound to, and got no replies.

Why didn't ad-hoc networking work? How do I set it up?

Thanks

If your card supports it, use the hostap driver and put the wireless in master mode. That way, it's acting as an access point vs. ad hoc.
