long ¨resolving host...¨ problems
Hi
I am running Mandrake 10.0 Official.
I have a prism 2.0 based USB wireless card, which connects straight to my ISP (part of a local wireless broadband scheme).
I have installed and set up the linux-wlan-ng drivers (version 0.2.1pre21) with my IP address, netmask, gateway, etc. To make the card recognisable, I had to upgrade the firmware (via windows) to version 1.5.4 (station).
I can browse the internet in Mandrake, but the ¨resolving host...¨ bit of loading web pages usually takes quite a while (anywhere from 1 to over 10 seconds). Sometimes, it goes ¨resolving host...¨ for a few minutes and times out.
My resolv.conf file reads like this:
search <ISP´s domain>
nameserver <ISP DNS 1>
nameserver <ISP DNS 2>
nameserver <ISP DNS 3>
And I just noticed this entry:
# ppp temp entry
Where did that come from???????
I have had the ¨resolving host...¨ problem on Redhat 9 and Fedora core 1 as well.
In Windows everything goes like a flash.
Any ideas???
Thanx in advance
