I also wonder about that model. They sell them in Sweden too.
I've found this tutorial and I guess that one is a good start.

This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which drivers you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required drivers have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
I have still not bought it. But would like to buy it if I know others was able to get it to work.

So try that tutorial and hope it works for you.

Please write your experiences here. Hope you succeed.

They have at least two threads about this computer and how to make it work with linux
on the ubuntu forum. I suggest you look there too.

This machine seems to have many different combination of hardware inside.
At least two different wifi versions. And they need different drivers.

If I knew what was needed for the hp 530 they sell here locally then I
would buy it but now I feel unsure of if I as a nooby are able to make
all those needed hacks to make it work.

If HP530 have Intel wireless - its now good work, but i have one issue more - with sound Connexant - its work only from internal speaker and headphone jacks, but if i plugged in the headphones, my internal speaker continue work and not turn off. I dont testing the microphone jack. If you think that sound issue not important for you - buy this laptop... But if this laptop will be distribute with Broadcom wireless rev01, maybe you need to buy another wireless card - mini pci-e, such as intel 3945 or intel 4965 - thats wi-fi hardware must support linux kernel
