KwifiManager Connected But Local Ip "unavailable"

I am new to linux and after being frustrated with how slow the Vista Beta ran on my laptop I installed Suse 10.1 and overall I am pretty happy performance wise but am getting very frustrated getting the wireless working. What is the point of a laptop with no wireless?

Anyway First I am kind of figuring out how this all works. The system recognizes my card an intel BG220 on a dell Insperon 700M. After installing KWIFI Manager and installing the latest ipw-firmware.rpm (i think is the name) kwifi picked up the card detects the network says I am connected but it says the local IP is unavailable and I cant connect to the internet.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

I'm having a somewhat similar problem. I'm also very new to Linux and must have installed 5 different distros on my laptop (Dell Latitude 600)in the past week trying to get my wireless working. I found something interesting: When I use a Live CD from Knoppix or Kanotix, Kwifimanager works fine and I connect to the internet with no problems. But as soon as I install the distro to the hard drive, Kwifimanager still says there is a connection but I can't get on the internet. I've been Googling all week, but couldn't find the answer to my particular problem for the distros I was using. I'll be waiting for an answer here too. Or maybe I should start another thread since this one seems dead.
