I got my compaq presario v6000 wireless lan work in suse 10.2
it is about half year since I bought my new COMPAQ computer. I installed suse 10.2, but the wireless lan, Boradcom wireless, doesn't work.
Today, I have made it work. Posted my method here to share with you!
1) install suse kernel source from suse DVD.
file:///media/SU1020.001/suse/i586/kernel-source-2.6.18.2-34.i586.rpm
2) install ndiswrapper
unpack ndiswrapper and go into the ndiswrapper fold
a. make uninstall
b. make ,if you receive
c. make install
3) download wireless driver of windows xp version from compaq website
4) unpack the driver and go into the driver fold. all the files has been listed as following:
Bcmnpf64.sys bcmwl5.sys bcmwls32.exe ikernel.ex_ setup.iss
Setup.ini bcmwl564.sys bcmwls64.exe is.exe sp33008.cva
bcm1xsup.dll bcmwliss.dll bcmwlu00.exe launcher.ini
bcm43xx.cat bcmwlnpf.sys data1.cab layout.bin
bcm43xx64.cat bcmwlpkt.dll data1.hdr setup.exe
bcmwl5.inf bcmwls.ini data2.cab setup.inx
5)
ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
6)input command: ndiswrapper -l
bcmwl5 : driver installed
device (14E4:4311) present
driver : invalid driver!
6)go to the yast2
a. "network device" --->>"network card" then double click
b. chose "user controlled with NetworkManager" then click "Next"
c. Add, device type list, choose Ethernet,then click "select from list"
d. in the list,choose "Compaq Netelligent 10/100/NetFlex3" click "OK"
