Hi. I'm new at wireless networking in linux. I want to get some parameters about the wireless link from the driver like the SSID, transmitted power, noise power, frequencies etc. using the IOCTL (or anything else for that matter, I just need the parameters) but I read that this is a way to go. Maybe somebody can provide some small examples or explanations, they would be highly appreciated. I have managed to extract some parameters from /proc/net/wireless with some Java code, but I need more that the parameters there (quality, signal, noise). If it is any importance, I have a asus eee pc 1000he with eeebuntu standard 3 on it, the device is an azurewave 802.11n wireless card. Thank you in advance.
One problem is that, as far as I have been able to determine in the last couple of days, there is no linux driver completely compatible with the AW NE766 chip. The available drivers are defective in that the chip cannot connect to any closed (WEP or WPA) networks. I'm looking for a substitute chip, and have been pointed to the SR71E from Ubiquiti. However I am still looking for available linux drivers for that one.
