Fedora 7 + intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG :(


hello all


i have a wireless card intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG and i want to connect the internet with it i have followed these steps

and when i run lspci command

[root@localhost ~]#  lspci | grep 3945
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02)
but i had a problem the wireless key on my laptop doesn't respond !!! itis always switched off !!!

however if i got to network manager icon i can see the wireless networks but if i want to connect to one it processing for a while and it failed to connect please i need a solution

have you tried it ?. i cannot install it of you have any tips about installing it please give me your feedback

I haven't tried it because my machine has a 2945BG, which 'just works'. Follow the instructions on the Sourceforge link, there are links to all the dependencies you need with instructions for each. So take it one step at a time and it shouldn't be too difficult

i have downloaded the package from intel site and i follow the instruction and when ever i run the daemon script i got the following error

./ipw3945d
ipw3945d - regulatory daemon
Copyright (C) 2005-2006 Intel Corporation. All rights reserved.
version: 1.7.22
2007-08-11 17:29:22: ERROR: Could not find Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

what is up ? :S

I'm not sure what you've downloaded here. Did you follow the instructions on the Sourceforge link I posted? Or otherwise try downloading the driver direct from Intel (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/down...=2259&lang=eng) .

i have downloaded and installed it and please provide me with the way of the installations . cuz when i tried to install it failed

try blacklisting the driver as shown in the documentation.

do the following and restart your comp.

nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
blacklist iwl3945
blacklist mac80211
then start the daemon
