Errors When Connection USB 11b Adapter

I'm getting the following error when connecting my USB 802.11b adapter to my computer:
Quote:
usbvnetr: version magic '2.6.5-1.358custom 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-3.3' should be '2.6.5-1.358 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-3.3'
. The error appears when logged in as root, and in the shell(like when you press CTRL-ALT-F1). This is on Fedora Core 2(final, not one of the tests), and after installing Atmelwlandrivers(atmelwlandriver.sourceforge.net) As the readme for the drivers, says, I ran the shell script, and made sure all the opions were set correctly, and recompiled the kernel. As I'm kind of a newb to linux, I'm not totally sure if I did everything right when recompiling the kernel, but I did follow the directions from the readme:
Quote:
Some further info for linux newbies:
After having finished with kernel tweaking, do `make bzImage', `make modules'
and `make modules_install'.
(For 2.4.x kernels, `make dep' must be run after exiting `make config')
The kernel image shall reside in ./arch/i386/boot/bzImage and should be copied
to /boot directory.
and no errors or anything appear when booting. I have, of course, compiled the drivers and installed them.
The USB Adapter is a Belkin F5D6050.

OK, I think that I probably screwed up recompiling the kernel. Once I recompiled it and recompiled the drivers, I don't get that error message anymore. Instead, I get these:
Code:
May 21 21:28:25 localhost kernel: usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 2
May 21 21:28:27 localhost kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 4
May 21 21:28:27 localhost kernel: hub 1-0:1.0: new USB device on port 1, assigned address 4
May 21 21:28:29 localhost modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting usbvnetr (/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358cust/kernel/drivers/usb/usbvnetr.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
May 21 21:28:29 localhost kernel: usbvnetr: Unknown symbol __gtdf2
May 21 21:28:29 localhost kernel: usbvnetr: Unknown symbol __floatsidf
May 21 21:28:29 localhost kernel: usbvnetr: Unknown symbol __fixunsdfsi
May 21 21:28:29 localhost kernel: usbvnetr: Unknown symbol __divdf3
May 21 21:28:29 localhost kernel: usbvnetr: Unknown symbol __subdf3
May 21 21:28:29 localhost usb.agent[5600]: ... can't load module usbvnetr
May 21 21:28:29 localhost usb.agent[5600]: missing kernel or user mode driver usbvnetr

I've given up on the sourceforge drivers, and instead tried this one: http://at76c503a.berlios.de/. I can get it to install OK, and the modules are loaded when I connect my card, but I can't get an IP from my DHCP server. I have used dhclient. The command I've run to start the
Code:
iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc channel 11 essid WLAN
.
It runs without errors. I'm sure the channel is correct, and fairly sure about the essid(in my routers config stuff, it says SSID, I assume they're the same). I'm not sure about the mode though. In the program that the adapter comes with for windows, the setting I use is infrastructure. When I change ad-hoc to infrastructure in the above command, it does give me an error though. Also, when I have the adapter connected while booting, my computer freezes during the Checking for New Hardware stage. It also freezes when I run iwconfig with no arguments or run the network setup thing from Fedora. Hopefully someone will reply, I feel like I'm writing a blog.

Two quick thoughts:

set up ip manually then try dhcp

ifconfig wlan0 address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask 255.255.255.0

dhclient wlan0

use route to setup default gateway

man route - to view the man pages for route.
