Distance: Wireless Router

I have to connect two computers that are located
on different floors. First computer is located on second floor and another computer is located in the basement. I use Verizon DSL.

I want to put wireless router on second floor. Can signal be reached to the computer in the basement? If so what kind of router do you recommend?

It depends on what is inbetween (straight line) the basement and the 2nd floor. If there is any dense object like a fireplace or something with lots of metal like the furnace or large kitchen appliances it will block RF energy.

The D-link wireless G specs a 100m indoor distance. In a real world indoor living space I would say it wouldn't make it. Using Directional antenna will increase gain and improve signal strength.
