connected to router but not to internet

im running slackware 10.2 and this is my 3rd post about this whole thing. I've managed to install, configure and connect my atheros card in my laptop to my belkin wireless-g router after hours of trying. But as i solve 1 problem another arises. I cant connect to the internet. I can ping my router and goto its control panel at 192.168.2.1.

Im connected thru a static ip address which i setup like this.

bash-3.00# wpa_passphrase heaven wpakey > /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
bash-3.00# chmod 640 /etc/wpa_passphrase.conf
bash-3.00# iwconfig ath0 essid heaven
bash-3.00# iwconfig ath0 channel 10
bash-3.00# iwconfig ath0 ap 00:11:50:39:XX:XX
bash-3.00# wpa_supplicant -dd -B -iath0 -Dmadwifi -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
bash-3.00# iwconfig ath0
ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"heaven"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.457 GHz Access Point: 00:11:50:39:XX:XX
Bit Rate:18 Mb/s Tx-Power:17 dBm Sensitivity=0/3
Retryff RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Encryption key:612F-23F0-XXXX-CA31-XXXX-4771-XXXX-XXXX Security mode:restricted
Power Managementff
Link Quality=61/94 Signal level=-34 dBm Noise level=-95 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
bash-3.00# ifconfig ath0 192.168.2.4 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
bash-3.00# /etc/rc.d/rc.inetd restart
bash-3.00# /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1

then i try pinging my router..

bash-3.00# ping 192.168.2.1
PING 192.168.2.1 (192.168.2.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 192.168.2.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=2.30 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.2.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=1.86 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.2.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=1.22 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.2.1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=1.22 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.2.1: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=2.53 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.2.1: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=6.38 ms

--- 192.168.2.1 ping statistics ---
6 packets transmitted, 6 received, 0% packet loss, time 5051ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 1.222/2.589/6.384/1.767 ms

and i try going to control panel and i can..
however when i try pinging internet sites i cant.

hmm i just tried unplugging my ethernet cable and i can ping sites but it only gets so far e.g.

bash-3.00# ping www.yahoo.co.uk
PING www.yahoo.co.uk (217.12.3.11) 56(84) bytes of data.
/* i have to press CTRL+C here because it does nothing */
--- www.yahoo.co.uk ping statistics ---
18 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 17049ms

i know what your thinking, your thinking that it just could be that the site is blocking my ping, but its the same with a few sites, even when i try telneting to yahoo or google on port 80 it just does nothing, doesn't display any messages it just stops like this:

// == comments, not part of example.

bash-3.00# telnet google.com 80
Trying 64.233.167.99...
// 30 seconds l8r
// 60 seconds l8r
// CTRL+C
bash-3.00#

well its further than i was 5 days ago when i couldn't even get onto the router.

PLEASE help me with this, any help at all will help alot because this is really getting on my nerves now. thanks.

Do you have a default route?
Code:
route -n
You are now on wireless but have you tried to make it work via wired ethernet?
