Complete novice - step by step for Dlink 520 on AS2.1

Hi,
I am afraid that I really am a complete newbie. I know very little linux admin ( but I have been using HP as a user for 10+ years ).
I have just installed Redhat AS2.1 - I have a D-LINK 520 card in my machine. Has anyone got a really step by step guide as to how to get this working ?
I had the card in before I installed linux and it does not appear to have autopconfigured.
I have read loads and loads of posts, but they just blow me away.
So, is there either a step by step guide or a generic guide that people could point me towards ?

Thanks for your patience - I know how painful people like me can be.

meant to say - if it makes life easier ... I have a winXP machine next to the linux box that works fine to my AP via wireless. So, if I really have to I dont mind using a crossover cable and getting 'through' the XP machine as a cludge. However, I have no idea on how to do that either ( both from the XP side and the linux side ).
Its just another lane to go down if its easier - I just want to get the thing working.
Thanks.

well - with no replies I still got somewhere. I coul dnot get my 520 to work, but managed to get through my XP as a bridge - even that was a nightmare as a crossover was not working but a hyb was !!!!!!! Still, I can now get to the net etc. So, well, I am OK now even if not ideal.

Did you look in the HCL (Hardware Compatability List) link at top of page?

There are a couple entries for different versions of your card and they mostly suggest suggest using the Madwifi drivers.
