Belkin F5D700 on Fedora core 4

Hi
I am new to using Linux as I want to get away from Windows and Microsoft.

I have got a copy of Fedora Core 4 and have installed it on a new Hard drive but it doesn't see my Belkin F5D700 54g wireless network card, does any one know if it is possible to use this card in Fedora Linux or not, I do hope so!!

Many thanks for any help anyone can give me
Ian

It's very possible, someone on this forum created this page to help: http://www.angelfire.com/linux/hardwire/wireless.html

You can get the windows drivers for you card here: http://www.pdxn.net/drivers/f5d7000_v2.html

You will need those for use w/ndiswrapper, also make sure you have the kernels source installed. You can find them on fedora disc 4 called kernel-devel-2.6.11-1... they're not installed by default.

I have the same card and I am trying to do the same thing right now but I am having a problem w/the WEP key, i think...

How do I find this kernel-devel-2.6.11-1 and how do I go about installing in?

Like I said I am new to Linux but I'll get the hang of it pretty quickly

Just put the Fedora Core 4 install disc in and double click the cdrom on the desktop.
Then double click the file in /Fedora/RPMS/kernel-devel-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.i686

Once you've done that, you can install ndiswrapper.

In the Fedora terminal go into su -
Then go into the directory you have unpacked ndiswrapper.
(to unpack: tar zxvf ndiswrapper.tar.gz))
Then in the terminal type:
Code:
make distclean
make
make install
When you are doing this make sure to have the belkin drivers in the same directory. You should have bcmwl5.inf, bcmwl5.sys, bcm43xx.cat.

hi thanks for that.
When I enter "make" i get the following error message:-
[Ian@localhost ndiswrapper-1.4]$ make
make -C driver
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/Ian/ndiswrapper-1.4/driver'
Can't find kernel sources in /lib/modules/2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp/build;
give the path to kernel sources with KSRC=<path> argument to make
make[1]: *** [prereq_check] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/Ian/ndiswrapper-1.4/driver'
make: *** [all] Error 2

What am I doing wrong??
Please help

I'm not to sure, I got that error when the source wasn't installed.
You may have to be logged in as root. Type in the following and enter your root password.
Code:
su -
Now try it again, that may not the problem though... hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction.
