802.1q frame format

Hi,

We are trying to create virtual NIC on single physical NIC card. We are using vconfig utility and created many vlans. We have assigned MAC addresses to each VLANs created. But when the ethernet frame goes out of Virtual NIC it is not in 802.1q format. Is this behaviour normal ? Or is there any configuration required to be done. We are using 2.6.9-22.ELsmp kernel.
