Setting up Virtualbox for SSD

Whats up guys...When normally installing my OS's on an SSD, I would tweak the /etc/fstab to include the discard, noatime, etc. among other things to prevent writes like usual....Should this apply to my virtual machines as well?

I noticed the "Soldis-State Drive" option within "Storage" when handling the virtual hard drive and I do have it selected to prevent writes as well but I also altered the /etc/fstab of each Virtualbox machine to be safe....Is it over kill?

if VMs there are two cases. You can use the underlying filesystem (= virtual hard drive) and in that case the fine tuning is more or less meaningless. But you may try to use a disk/partition directly and in that case you may find it useful.

A virtual hard drive is a single file or collection of files that will act almost exactly as a real hard drive. If one wanted to reduce read/write to this virtual filesystem then they could do most of the same things as one would do to a real hard drive. A write is a write, right?

It is entirely possible that one could make any portion of this virtual hard drive on some mechanical drive too.
