What do you feel are important things to consider, such as compatibility issues, when installing Windows IE on a LINUX virutal machine?
I feel it's important to not post the same question in multiple forums. I also feel it's important to question WHY you'd want to install IE on Linux to start with?
IE is a Windows program, and (from what I understand), later versions won't work or are VERY problematic on Linux. Run IE on Windows, period. Use other standards-compliant browsers (Opera, Firefox, Chrome, etc.), on Linux. Why do you want to do this, and what version of IE are you trying to install, on what version/distro of Linux?
Okay, won't do that again. I am just trying to figure out what are important things to consider when it comes to running Windows IE on a Sikuli virtual machine? I guess one would be what version of IE I will run. Which version would work?

Again, Why do you want to do this, and what version of IE are you trying to install, on what version/distro of Linux? And Google can point you to lots of tips for running IE on Linux, but the consensus is, don't. Again, it's buggy, slow, and problematic to get running. Far better to run Windows programs on Windows. IE8 can sort-of be made to work, but will have problems. A brief look at the Wine site tells you lots:
Most of IE is rated "Garbage"...that is, WILL NOT WORK. Also, according to their website, Sikuli is NOT a virtual machine, but a testing tool. What version/distro of Linux are you planning on running this on??
Ubuntu.. so what would be the big problems of running any version of IE on a LINUX-based virtual machine?
Did you read my previous replies? Again, IT IS BUGGY, SLOW, AND WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY, IF AT ALL. Can't be said more plainly than that.
Again, Why do you want to do this, and what version of IE are you trying to install, on what version/distro of Linux? "Ubuntu" has LOTS of versions...which are you using???

you DO NOT run IE
internet explorer9 ( IE4,IE5,IE6,IE7,IE8) IS BASICALLY Microsoft WINDOWS Explorer ( as in the windows DESKTOP )
the web browser and the desktop are almost the same program
you basically do not run it on a Linux Operating System
the very old and DEAD internet explorer 4 and 6 somewhat run in WINE
but even Microsoft is trying TO KILL OFF IE6

It often amazes me that, despite asking the same question multiple times, folks won't answer it, and then are AMAZED that they can't get an answer. The bold (rarely, though), may elicit a response.
