I have laptop with Centos 6.5, i'm using wireless to get internet connection.
I need build lab with XenServer (inside xen few linux vms) and with few separate windows vms.
I want have XenServer and other windows vms in same network (192.168.1.x), as my host (Centos 6.5) or Internal network eg 10.x.x.x (with intenet connection).
In VirtualBox i had no such problems (bridging wlan0), but i need create my lab based on KVM.
And in KVM i have problem with that.
I read that there are problems with bridging wireless interfaces.
Yes, i realize that vms have virtual router.
But from what i know, in NAT setup vms getting same ip, there are isolated from each other, but have internet connection.
Am i wrong ?
So i read about bridge host interface with virtualization software interface, to get connection between vms.
But after no succeed with bridging wireless interface, i lookup in search engine, and i found that there is problem with that under linux.
Is there some special things to do, to get wlan brigde working ?
Please, i stared playing kvm just a wile ago. I need some extra explanations.
Eg. I tried in NIC setting set
source Device as host device wlan0: macvtab
device model - default
source mode: brigde
But after loging to windows xp, and realising new ip, i couldn't get ip from 192.168.1.x as my host network is in.
I'm getting 169.254.254.55/8
One can set up vm's for internal only but that locks out host.
If you want to use any lan/wan then you'd need to go with nat or bridged. You pointed out a new way for KVM to connect bridged that I've never used yet. The MacVtap is almost a virtual device with it's own config. I think your example is not fully describing the macvtap as macvtap0 maybe?
