Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Hey,

I'm having an chatting application this application is providing many services like; voice calls, sms, chatting, sharing files, ..etc.

Our infrastructure consists of 15 virtual servers hosted on cloud computing company which allows us to create virtual servers on our account with the specs we needs, and allow resizing as well.

My question is I've been searching on another alternatives and I would appreciate if you can share with me your experience in (iaaS).

I'm studing the offers in IBM BlueMix and Amazon. What is I really looking for to have a protal and manage the services only not the server, and something to take the headache of resizing the servers RAM, CPU, Disk. I need to manage the services only not the servers.

Thanks in Advance!

The only real way of doing what you're after, is honestly to hire someone.

In the scenario you describe, it's all very possible to create a 'cluster' of servers, and have them running together/in fail-over mode/whatever, and have them scalable (VMWare esX products are a great way to do this)....but SOMEONE is going to have to manage the separate servers, and keep an eye on them, somehow. There are companies out there that will happily hand you a portal, and let you go on about your way to manage the service on it...but you're totally at their mercy then, and (essentially), you're hiring THEM to do your server management.

This is going to depend on how much budget you have, what control(s)/rights you're willing to give up to have someone else manage your servers, and how much you want to grow. Personally, 15 servers aren't that many....I'd deploy a monitoring solution like Zabbix or Nagios to watch the servers for me and alert if things start going bad, and move forward. You're not adding much to your daily/weekly/monthly workload to check those individually on a regular basis.
