Do I have to install VMware-player to have a different IP and MAC address?

Hi,

I am trying to implement the arp cache poisoning. I am using Fedora 13 and i have installed virtual box with linuxmint and ubuntu operating systems to implement the arp cache poisoning.

I need some help in doing this. I have installed the tools netwox and netwag in all the operating systems and I have the wireshark on the host computer.

When I run the command arp -a in all the operating systems, I get the same ip and mac address in linuxmint and ubuntu and a different one in fedora.
My question is do i have to install a vmware-player to have a different ip address and mac address or is it fine to use the present system.

Once I have the start how do I send the arp packets to the different os and sniff them.
Can someone help me out in doing this.

I doubt you will find people to help you to learn illegal stuff here.

Hi Ramurd,

Honestly this is part of project lab where I am supposed to know how the arp cache poisoning can be done. I searched on google but couldn't find any thing related to it.

Thanks

If you are doing some sort of network lab, the best option may be to create an isolated set of VMs and not use the host machine at all.

LOL. ARP-cache poising is not illegal, and this is a common exercise for every networking cert.

VMWare Player will not help you in this situation. For this to occur, it sounds like you have the VirtualBox networking set up in some kind of NAT, which is useless. Give each machine direct access, which will generate a unique MAC for each VM.
