Zoneminder does not work right with all browsers.

I have Zoneminder 2.24.2 installed. It seems to work, however, when a client computer tries to use IE explorer to view the the camera the frame rate refresh is very slow (once every 10 to 15 seconds). If firefox is used to view it, it works at normal frame rate. What causes this?

What's the problem with IE? Let me count the ways...

Hi -

I don't think any of us could even begin to speculate as to why IE is "slow" and Firefox is "fast" rendering Zoneminder video without more info.

Q: Why don't you open up a browser, do a "view source" of a Zoneminder session, and look at the browser-side HTML code?

If I had to guess, I suspect:
a) Zoneminder is probably sending video frames as .jpg images

b) there's probably a Javascript loop that "phones home" for the next image

c) Firefox is generally pretty good at interpreting Javascript
Older versions of IE were abysmally bad
That might be the entire problem

'Hope that helps .. PSM

Found the problem

I discovered that IE does not "do" multipart Jpeg streams. An applet called cambozola is needed for the browser to show motion video properly. cambozola.jar must be in the directory that zoneminder server page is in and enabled in the options
