youtube downloader

I download YouTube videos on the command line. I used to use youtube-dl but when it bogged down to unusuably slow I switched to yt-dlp. Today yt-dlp has bogged down and I hope somebody else has gotten ahead of YouTube's efforts to block this. Of course I updated yt-dlp.

If you trust one of the online places they always seem to have it figured out. Usually a cat and mouse game. Did yt-dlp use android to attack it?

Not enough. The latest version - the 2023.03.03 one, manages to bypass the throttling again.

This is the default action, in case of any problem try the latest and greatest version of it. YouTube is always changing something in the background without any notification.

Which? DDG turned up a variety of conflicting opinions. I hoped someone here knew.

Yes. youtube-dl stopped playing. I was worried that yt-dlp had.

A crontab job runs update daily. But running it again later in the day got a newer version that isn't throttled. I should run it reflexively before using it.
